Fresh flowers are lovely of course, but they just don’t last much past your wedding day!

Here is a beautiful fresh flower wedding bouquet (pictured on the left) and it’s equally beautiful silk flower replica (centre and right). Now the bride has her bouquet as an everlasting memento of their special day and a lovely bunch of flowers to display at home.

The bouquet contains pink vintage roses, ivory lisianthus, pink wax flowers and eucalyptus leaves.

Congratulations if your loved one popped the question on Valentine's Day!

Now the fun starts! So much to think about - venue, dress, photographer and cake are high on your list, but don’t forget to give your wedding flowers plenty of thought too.

Your bridal bouquet is a very important part of your day and something you would like to cherish forever; choosing silk flowers will allow you to do just that.

An artificial bouquet will continue to look fresh and remain a beautiful everlasting keepsake of your special day, just like this heart shaped bouquet with birch bark hearts.

I’m really looking forward to making wrist corsages with these pearl and diamonte bracelets and sprays. I’ll also make some with various coloured satin ribbons instead of the bracelets.

autumn silk bouquet featured in Rock n Roll Bride magazine

as seen in Rock n Roll Bride magazine!

9th January 2017

Very excited to see one of my silk bouquets and buttonholes featured in a real wedding article in the latest edition of Rock n Roll Bride magazine. The brilliant photos of Lexi and Rob's wedding last autumn were taken by Enchanted Brides Photography and Lexi wore a beautiful dress by Gilly Woo Couture.

The magazine is packed full of real weddings, suppliers, DIY ideas and advise for alternative couples - excellent read!!

white silk rose and peony bouquet

happy new year!

2nd January 2017

Best wishes to everyone for the coming year and especially to all the couples who got engaged over the holidays - congratulations!

The silk flowers I work with are of a high quality and especially chosen for their realistic look and will remain a beautiful everlasting keepsake of your special day. So whether you are getting married near to home or abroad I look forward to helping you fulfil your floral dreams.

Here is a white rose and peony bouquet with a fluffy Stachys leaf base, which would look lovely for a snowy winter themed wedding.

silk christmas wreath and table arrangement

silk christmas wreath

20th December 2016

Modern Christmas door wreath and table runner arrangement of silk flowers and cinnamon sticks.

Beautiful winter white silk roses, freesias and hellebores, with fresh green artificial apples and ivy leaves, dark pine leaves, and real pine cones, all arranged down the centre of a row of cinnamon sticks.

The door wreath has a small bunch of the silk flowers and foliage hanging from the bottom by a satin ribbon.

Two wreaths placed together make a stunning table centre, and the scent from the cinnamon sticks really adds to the Christmassy feel.

The silk bouquet contains red roses, hydrangea and spider orchids, burgundy hydrangea, burnt orange dogwood and witch hazel, and ivy leaves, with a birch bark heart shaped collar. The handle is covered with silver grey satin ribbon to match the under fabric of Lexi’s dress.

The matching silk buttonhole contains one red rose, burgundy hydrangea and ivy leaves.

Stunning photos taken on the day by Enchanted Brides Photography.

sparkling winter designs

5th December 2016

Just like the frosty weather we have been having lately this silk bouquet certainly has a wintery feel, ideal for a winter wedding.

I don’t usually choose silk flowers that aren’t the same colour as the real ones they replicate, but I couldn’t resist these delicate bluey-grey Nerines.

The silver cord covered handle and glittery silver birch twigs add a frosty sparkle to the ivory roses and Nerines.

The two Nerine flower heads hanging from the twigs have diamanté bead details, as does the end of the handle and the simple but elegant matching buttonhole.

The bouquet, buttonhole and large arrangement can now be seen in the window of Not Just Brides in Westbury, Wiltshire.

Silk flower arrangements for the Christmas and winter seasons to be displayed on the bar at The Red House in Yeovil.

The first is an Xmas arrangement of variegated holly, ivy, pine, Poinsettia flowers and sparkly gold designer seed heads. Followed by stunning branches of Magnolia flowers. And last but not least, beautifully realistic pink Hellebores with bare twigs. (See previous posts below for close up photos)

So very pleased with these new Hellebore flowers from a new supplier.

The Hellebores will be combined with winter flowering blossom and bare twigs, to make a stunning winter arrangement for one of my clients in January (photos to follow).

They would also make a beautiful late winter wedding bouquet, just by themselves as a hand tied bouquet held together with a simple ribbon.

burgundy and white silk bouquet

New bouquet designed especially for brides to hold when trying on dresses at Wedding Time Bridal Salon.

The bouquet contains white roses, apple blossom and Freesias, which blend into burgundy Hydrangea flowers and Begonia leaves around the base. The handle is covered with pearl bead thread and large pearls nestle amongst the flowers. And there is a matching buttonhole to go with it.

Wedding Time is a long established bridal shop in the centre of Dorchester, with beautiful dresses and accessories for the bride and suits for the men to hire.

various silk buttonholes

a rainbow of silk buttonholes

31st October 2016

I’m very pleased to have been asked to make new buttonholes for Frederick L. Mabb, the mens wear and hire shop in Yeovil.

Frederick L. Mabb was first established in Dorchester in 1922, offering a wide range of quality men’s clothing. The Yeovil shop opened in 1984 and has had a large selection of hire wear for men and boys since 1996.

These various coloured silk buttonholes will add the finishing touch to the mens wedding suits on display in the shop and at wedding fairs through out Somerset and the surrounding counties. I look forward to being able to show you images soon!

dahlia flowers

beautiful dahlias, fresh and silk

24th October 2016

I spent a relaxing day at Tyntesfield, the spectacular Victorian Gothic Revival house and gardens in north Somerset, last weekend. The house was amazing of course, but I was just as impressed with the walled garden and its cut flower borders. At this time of year the borders are full of Dahlias of many shapes and colours.

The large ‘cactus’ Dahlia flowers are glorious but I love the small ‘pompoms’, they are just wonderful. Nature has made a flower so perfect, with each row of curled petals sitting exactly between the next, making decreasing rings to the centre - magic!

I haven’t come across any silk pompom Dahlias yet but there are some lovely larger ones available, which would make a lovely autumn hand tied type bouquet.

silk garlands for wedding campervans

silk garlands for wedding campervan

17th October 2016

Two new silk flower garlands for Somerset Wedding Campervans, who are based in Somerton, Somerset. They have two classic VW campervans to hire for weddings and events.

The longer garland sits on the back shelf with the champagne and glasses, and the other one sits on the dashboard. The silk flowers are white Scabiosa and apple blossom, pale pink Physostegia, and ivy leaves.
